Influence of Pd and Pt Promotion in Gold Based Bimetallic Catalysts on Selectivity Modulation in Furfural Base-Free Oxidation

Furfural (FF) has a high potential to become major renewable platform molecule produce biofuels and bio-based chemicals. The catalytic performances of AuxPty AuxPdy bimetallic nanoparticulate systems supported on TiO2 were studied in base-free aerobic oxidation furfural furoic acid (FA) maleic (MA) water. characterization the catalysts was performed using standard techniques. optimum reaction conditions also investigated, including time, temperature, metal ratio, loading. present work shows synergistic effect existing between Au, Pd, Pt alloy, where strongly dependent ratio. highest selectivity (100%) FA obtained Au3-Pd1 catalysts, with 88% 0.5% Au3Pt1 about 30% FF conversion at 80 °C.
